With the success of the Community Education Program(CEP) for high school aged youth in first and second terms of this year, Fusion Canberra is running it a third time this year. This term’s program started on the 5th November.
Students are invited from a number of schools and participate in CEP one day a week for 6 weeks.
There are two streams this term – Sound Engineering and Event Planning. Mark and Hassa are mentors for Sound Engineering and Gillian and Gordon are mentors for Event Planning.
CEP is now run at St Georges Church in Pearce which is very convenient for Melrose High school students because it is within walking distance from the school.
Students from other schools can take the Route 300 series bus from any of the major interchanges to Melrose High on Athllon Drive in Pearce and then walk from there. We are more than happy to explain the route and help you to get there if you are having problems.
In previous CEPs, students not only enjoyed themselves but gained confidence and learnt a lot about themselves in the process.
At the end of the 6 weeks, there is a celebration and students graduate with a certificate detailing the competencies which they achieved over that time.
This term’s graduation will be part of the Fusion Canberra End of Year Celebration and all relatives and friends of participants are welcome to come.
The End of Year Celebration will be on the 10th December from 5 – 7 pm and will be a casual event. Tickets are free so why not register now so that you can come and cheer on these well deserving youth. Click here to register.
