Mark Holberton was appointed as Schools Worker for Fusion Canberra back in October and started in the role on Monday 12th November.
This is a new role for Fusion Canberra and is full-time across two of our school partners, both of which are public high schools, Melrose High School in Pearce (in the Woden Valley) and University of Canberra High School Kaleen (in Belconnen).
Mark has actually been on our team for over 2 years as a valuable part of our Caroline Chisholm School Breakfast Club team that has been serving hundreds of students since October 2008.
In his new role with us he brings his university level Social Work training, his experience with Christian inter-denominational youth ministry and time spent with his church youth group at St Matthew’s Wanniassa.
He really appreciates being able to give hope to young people and has both a pastoral heart as well as rides a motorbike!
It’s been great that he has already been a part of our pilot Community Education Program being run from our Kambah youth and community hub (see previous blog posts about this exciting mentoring opportunity).
He’s already making a difference at the schools, and school staff are singing his praises.
So once again, welcome Mark, and thankyou for your commitment to young people and our mission of creating the kind of Canberra and world where no-body gets left behind.
