These are some of the donated bikes that will be worked on starting next Wednesday 31st October by local high school students and the new workshop shed some of the students will be working in.
Today we met with 3 volunteer mentors who will be part of our first Community Education Program. A 6 week program teaching job readiness, real workplace experience, and interpersonal skills, the mentors who have committed to the program are very excited about how it will make a real difference in young lives.
One mentor, a retired teacher, shared about her experience as a teacher and the way she built up her students with encouraging words. She really loves the program and can’t wait to mentor students in our Wombat Wardrobe social enterprise.
Another mentor, from a rough background when he was a teenager, just wants to look out for young people and encourage them like he wasn’t when he was growing up.
It’s so exciting to be starting this program after meeting with 4 of the 7 young people who will be participating. We feel privileged to be able to invest in their lives positively and help them achieve their goals.
A celebration and graduation ceremony will be held for the program at our Friends of Fusion End of Year Celebration Dinner on Wednesday 5th December, 6.30-8.30pm. Venue to be confirmed.
Please call our office to book your place at what will definitely be a great night.
