On Friday 17 May at 10am by the shores of Lake Tuggeranong, our hungry future time travelers will be welcomed from the year 2025 to talk about what the future has in store in relation to food security in the ACT.
There is also word that one of the arch nemesis of a well known time traveler will be appearing.
This is all part of the Our Hungry Future campaign, a joint initiative of SEE Change and Fusion Canberra.
This event is designed to be a media event to officially launch the campaign which will run at least for the rest of 2013, if not longer.
On the day, the Our Hungry Future discussion paper will be released to the media and the community. This paper has been prepared by campaign organisers and will be sent to local and federal politicians, schools, faith groups, and other community organisations. Organisers are encouraging Church bible study small groups, social clubs, service clubs, and local residents to get together and discuss the issue with the aid of the discussion paper.
We are hosting this event to raise awareness about our upcoming public lecture with Julian Cribb on May 21, and other associated events throughout 2013.
The objectives of the campaign are to:
- Raise awareness of food supply and food security in Canberra
- Campaign for ACT government to develop a food policy and staff to implement it
- Round table of stakeholders on food issues
- Guidance for ACT government on how to spend the money allocated for community gardens
Why not join us at this historical moment to welcome and extent hospitality to our hungry future time travellers!
