On Tuesday, we were blessed to be able to visit Soul Survivor ACT, in Goulburn! The team were very caring and thoughtful, and it was great to meet kids from Canberra, Wagga Wagga & some from Sydney. However, the European wasps were much more excited about our food than we were to have them buzzing around! It gave us a good opportunity to put into practice the workshop we were running…

The theme of Soul Survivor 2018 was “Courageous” and we took the opportunity to run our workshop on “Courageously Facing your Fears”. We looked at fears we have when entering a group for the first time (which amazingly gets similar responses around the world!), how those fears can stop us from realising that others might be feeling the same way & hinder us from loving them. We also talked about how we see ourselves, how it makes a difference having God in the picture (a huge difference!) and how we can love others by learning to listen (this involves overcoming our own fears and helping others overcome theirs!) The young people did well critiquing our role plays as we looked at examples of bad listening and good listening. So good to think about what it looks like to be God’s person in the world. Courage comes from realising how big He is and that He is with us. Good reminders! Be praying for the group as they finish off the week tomorrow that they would be able to go back to their lives and live with this perspective! And for safe travels.
