Fusion Canberra is seeking applications from suitable individuals to take on the role of Workshop Manager at their Kambah youth and community hub at the Carleton St Shops.

In late 2012 with funds raised from our other enterprises, Fusion Canberra purchased a 3 x 6 metre shed and installed it with volunteer labour in one of the backyard areas of our youth and community hub in Kambah.

Since that time, we have held three Community Education Programs (CEP) for 6 weeks each where a total of 17 local high school aged youth have taken part.

The CEP is designed to be a supported work experience, pre-vocational training and personal development program all rolled into one.

Volunteer mentors from the community are matched with the students who are placed in one of several work environments which have included: horticulture and aquaponics, bike service and repair, and second hand clothing retail.

Now we are ready to expand the workshop aspect of the CEP.

This is where we are looking for community members to join our dedicated volunteer team to help grow the workshop side of our operations as a mentoring and fundraising tool.

The MAD – Make A Difference – Workshop aims to be a “Youth Shed” where volunteers from the community can mentor high school aged young people in a practical hands on environment.

This will include recycling of bikes, small engines (whipper snippers, lawn mowers etc), wood and metal. Any items for sale will be sold through another of their retail social enterprises, Wombat Wardrobe, raising much needed funds to be reinvested in other valuable youth and community work.

We are looking for a part-time Manager for the Workshop, which is also a volunteer position starting at 1 day a week. And we are also looking for more volunteer team members to join the workshop team starting from 2 hours a week upwards.

Relevant screening, police and background checks will be conducted.

Please use the buttons below for more information on either role or to apply. You’re more than welcome to call our office for more information as well.
