This week our Sustainability Project took possession of a brand new Biopod. It’s another method of composting organic waste using Black Soldier Fly Lavae.

They in turn can be used as food for the fish in our Aquaponics systems.

They are made up of 45% protein and 35% fat – a fantastic source of nutrition for fish.

All we need now is some Black Soldier Flies to come and lay some eggs in the Biopod… and then we’re cooking with gas! (so to speak)

Here’s a picture of John Brummell and John Francis, two of our team members, with the newly setup Biopod.

This adds a second method of composting to our facilities at our Kambah youth and community hub. The first is a worm farm creating worm juice that we sell in one of our social enterprises – Wombat Wardrobe!
